Click the Answer
Previously, in the CMGE English Usage and Listening quizzes, students needed to select the bubble beside the image or the word to indicate their answer. Younger students sometimes required teacher direction to correctly do this. Students can now select by hovering their cursor over either the bubble or the image/word itself and click the cursor to answer the question.
This change is for all assessments that use multiple choice, including Math, across all grade levels.
Use of iPhones
We have now blocked iPhone access to the application and students are given direction to use a desktop, laptop or tablet computer.
The reason we have done so is that in situations when students take the assessment, unsupervised they sometimes fail to follow the provided instructions to not use phones.
The CMGE Reading sub-measure and the CMGE Writing sample are not designed to be used with the small screen and keyboard of phones. As well, all mobiles use data and Wi-Fi in tandem and can switch between networks based on signal strength. This network instability even between two mobile data towers can interrupt the assessment session.
